PANCURONIUM SUMMARY
Pancuronium Bromide is a nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent chemically designated as the aminosteroid 2β, 16β - dipiperidino-5α-androstane-3α, 17-β diol diacetate dimethobromide, C35H60Br2N2O4.
Pancuronium bromide is indicated as an adjunct to general anesthesia to facilitate tracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation.

Similar preoperative hemodynamic response to pancuronium and rocuronium in high-risk cardiac surgical patients. [2005.12] AIM: Rocuronium may be a good alternative to pancuronium in cardiac surgical patients. We evaluate the hemodynamic response to rocuronium and pancuronium administered to cardiac surgical patients... CONCLUSIONS: Rocuronium can be a safe alternative to pancuronium for patients requiring cardiac surgical procedures.
Does pancuronium or cisatracurium delay the rate of arousal following remifentanil-based anesthesia? [2005.10] STUDY OBJECTIVE: The present report investigates the rate of arousal following remifentanil-based anesthesia associated with the coadministration of pancuronium, which inhibits butyrylcholinesterase, or cisatracurium, which is partially metabolized by nonspecific esterases, versus vecuronium that is eliminated independently of ester hydrolysis... CONCLUSION: The results suggest that recovery following remifentanil-based anesthesia is not delayed by the coadministration of pancuronium, cisatracurium versus vecuronium; and by the use of neostigmine for reversal of neuromuscular blockade.
Interaction between mivacurium and pancuronium: impact of the order of administration. [2005.05] INTRODUCTION: Potentiation of mivacurium by low-dose pancuronium is mostly due to an inhibition of plasma butyryl cholinesterase (BchE) resulting in a decreased rate of hydrolysis of mivacurium. Nevertheless, an interaction at the receptor site could not be ruled out. By changing the order of the muscle relaxant injections, we may lessen the pharmacokinetic interaction and assess the impact at the acetylcholine receptor level... CONCLUSION: Interaction between mivacurium and low dose pancuronium is significant only when mivacurium is injected after pancuronium.
Myocardial performance index with sevoflurane-pancuronium versus fentanyl-midazolam-pancuronium in infants with a functional single ventricle. [2004.12] BACKGROUND: Patients with congenital heart disease characterized by a functional single ventricle make up an increasing number of patients presenting for cardiac or noncardiac surgery. Conventional echocardiographic methods to measure left ventricular function, i.e., ejection fraction, are invalid in these patients because of altered ventricular geometry. Two recently described Doppler echocardiographic modalities, the myocardial performance index and Doppler tissue imaging, can be applied to single-ventricle patients because they are independent of ventricular geometry. This study assessed the changes in myocardial performance index and Doppler tissue imaging in response to two anesthetic regimens, fentanyl-midazolam-pancuronium and sevoflurane-pancuronium... CONCLUSIONS: Myocardial performance index, a global measurement of combined systolic and diastolic ventricular function, is not affected by commonly used doses of fentanyl-midazolam or sevoflurane in infants with a functional single ventricle.
Different F-wave recovery after neuromuscular blockade with pancuronium and mivacurium. [2004.11] We performed this study to assess the recovery period after neuromuscular blockade by electromyographic F-wave analysis, a method that supplies more information about more proximal parts of the motor system than conventionally used methods, e.g., mechanomyography (MMG)...

Rapid Infusion of Cold Normal Saline During CPR for Patients With Out-of-hospital Cardiac Arrest [Completed]
That paramedic core cooling during CPR using a rapid infusion of ice-cold (4 degrees C)
large-volume (30mL/kg) normal saline improves outcome at hospital discharge compared with
standard care in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
0.6 vs. 1.2 mg Atropine Together With Neostigmine 2.5 mg on Heart Rate in Patient Receiving Muscle Relaxant [Completed]
Balanced general anesthesia with neuromuscular blocking agents has been widely used for
surgery.. At the end of surgery, neostigmine has been given for the reversal of
neuromuscular blocking agents with several adverse effects such as bradycardia and profuse
secretion. Atropine has been used to prevent those side effects of neostigmine. The
routine dosages of the two drugs are 2. 5 mg of neostigmine and 1. 2 mg of atropine.
Tribuddharat S ey al. (1) has demonstrated that after giving 0. 9 mg atropine together with
2. 5 mg of neostigmine the mean heart rate during 1-8 minutes after the administration was
increase 2-26 beats/min (bpm). At 9 and 10 minutes after administration of the drugs, the
mean heart rate were decrease 0. 9 and 1. 6 bpm In the control group which receiving 1. 2 mg of
atropine, the mean heart rate during 1-10 minutes after administration was increase 4-32
bpm. However this study did not report the incidence of bradycardia and blood pressure. The
mean heart rate prior to atropine and neostigmine was 74. 43 + 11. 82 bpm.(1)
Salem MG et al. (2) has demonstrated that after receiving 1. 2 mg of atropine and 5 mg of
neostigmine the mean heart rate during 2-110 minutes was decrease 5-29 bpm with the lowest
heart rate at 40 minutes after administration. This study also did not report the blood
pressure.
The baseline heart rate (HR) before administration of the reversal was associated with the
following heart rate. Heinonen J et al. (3) has demonstrated that 80% of the patients after
receiving 0. 015 mg/kg of atropine 3 minutes before 0. 03 mg of neostigmine for the reversal
of pancuronium experienced bradycardia (heart rate < 50 bpm) compared with none in patients
receiving alcuronium. However, before administration of atropine and neostigmine, the mean
heart rate of patients was significantly lower in the pancuronium group.
Either tachycardia or bradycardia with hypotension causes adverse affect to patient
especially in specific group like patient with coronary artery disease or undergoing
craniotomy.
The primary objective of our study is to demonstrate the effect on heart rate (HR) and blood
pressure of 0. 6 mg atropine and 2. 5 mg neostigmine for the reversal of muscle relaxant
compare to 1. 2 mg atropine.
Fetal Cystoscopy Versus Vesico-amniotic Shunting in Severe Lower Urinary Tract Obstructions [Not yet recruiting]
There are two options of fetal treatment in cases of severe lower urinary tract
obstructions: the vesico-amniotic shunting and fetal cystoscopy. There is no study
confirming the effectiveness of these treatment, specially comparing both techniques. The
present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of these treatments.
