SUMMARY
Phendimetrazine tartrate is a phenylalkylamine sympathomimetic
amine with pharmacological activity similar to the prototype drugs of this class
used in obesity, the amphetamines.
Phendimetrazine tartrate tablets are indicated in the management of exogenous
obesity as a short term adjunct (a few weeks) in a regimen of weight reduction
based on caloric restriction. The limited usefulness of agents of this class
(see
CLINICAL
PHARMACOLOGY) should be measured against possible risk factors
inherent in their use such as those described below.

Clinical Trials Related to Phendimetrazine
Reinforcing Effects of Cocaine During Phendimetrazine Maintenance [Recruiting]
This study will determine the initial efficacy of phendimetrazine as a pharmacotherapy for
cocaine dependence. A rigorous, inpatient human laboratory study will be conducted in which
the subjective, physiological and reinforcing effects of cocaine are evaluated during
maintenance on placebo and phendimetrazine.
Phendimetrazine and Cocaine [Recruiting]
This study will determine the safety and tolerability of phendimetrazine (Bontril®) as a
pharmacotherapy for cocaine use disorder. A rigorous, inpatient human laboratory study will
be conducted in which the subjective and physiological effects of cocaine are evaluated
during maintenance on placebo and phendimetrazine.
Stemcells for Radiation Induced Xerostomia [Enrolling by invitation]
The current study aims to assess the safety and feasibility of the injection of autologous
adipost tissue derived MSCs on radiation-induced salivary gland hypofunction and xerostomia
in head and neck cancer participants. The project can potentially help to develop a
clinically relevant treatment option for the growing number of patients suffering from
xerostomia after radiotherapy. The development of new therapies is especially important,
since only sub-optimal symptomatic treatments are currently available and the symptom of
xerostomia greatly reduces the quality of life.
Efficacy of Natural Vitamin E Tocotrienol on the Treatment of Surgical Scars [Recruiting]
The overall goal of this study is to determine the efficacy of tocotrienol (TCT), a natural
form of vitamin E, in preventing or reducing scar formation in human skin wounds as well as
the basal levels of TCT in normal human skin and adipose tissue.

Effectiveness: | | Highly Effective |
Side effects: | | Severe Side Effects | | Treatment Info |
Condition / reason: | | weight loss |
Dosage & duration: | | 35mg taken 2 times per day for the period of 4 weeks |
Other conditions: | | none |
Other drugs taken: | | none | | Reported Results |
Benefits: | | A total of 20 pounds lost in one month. |
Side effects: | | Although I reached my goal weight, the drug made me very restless, anxious, moody. I also experienced headaches, and falling asleep was not easy while on this drug. Dizziness, light headed. |
Comments: | | Take one 35mg pill in the morning and one after lunch to curb appetite. I fond myself able to stay more active and run longer at the gym. It's a toss up if the results were worth the side effects. It's obvious that a drug this strong that makes you want to run a marathon and not eat can't be good for you! |
