A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of ketoconazole 2% shampoo versus selenium sulfide 2.5% shampoo in the treatment of moderate to severe dandruff. [1993.12] BACKGROUND: Ketoconazole is highly effective against the yeast Pityrosporum ovale, an organism believed to be involved in the pathogenesis of dandruff. OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of ketoconazole 2% shampoo versus selenium sulfide 2.5% shampoo and placebo shampoo in patients with moderate to severe dandruff... CONCLUSION: Both ketoconazole 2% shampoo and selenium sulfide 2.5% shampoo are effective in the treatment of moderate to severe dandruff; however, ketoconazole 2% shampoo appears to be better tolerated.

zinc and selenium status in patients with atherosclerosis and stable angina? Zinc and
selenium supplementation, concomitantly with rosuvastatin, influences the antioxidant and
anti-inflammatory as well as the status of minerals?

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center researchers are trying to compare the effects of
two different forms of selenium (selenium yeast and selenomethionine) on blood selenium
levels and biomarkers of oxidative stress as primary endpoints. One in six men are at risk
of getting prostate cancer in their lifetime. Participants will be asked to take
over-the-counter selenium yeast supplements and selenomethionine or a placebo for nine out
of twelve months.

This study is being conducted to determine if patients with cirrhosis (liver disease) are
selenium deficient. The effect of supplementation with two chemical forms of selenium on
plasma selenium biomarkers will be determined and correlated with the severity of the liver
