| Comments: | | I took this once a day for eight days for a vaginal bacterial infection. I only had slight side effects of an upset stomach after taking the pill; probably because I had not eaten much on those days. My infection cleared up noticably before the treatement was through. I feel it was very effective. |

| Benefits: | | not worth the cost of the side effects. Becasue I was so miserable, I discontinued the medication early and opted for a more conventional anti-biotic. |
| Side effects: | | nausea, upset stomach, insomnia, and a general feeling sick. I felt like I was going to throw up if I so much as drank water, I got very tired and week but could not sleep due to constant dry heaving. |

Weakness depression, suicidal ideation, so weak I have been unable to leave my bed for more than a couple of hours a day. I'd rather just shit myself to death than to take this crap. Christ, if I didn't have leukemia, I just wouldn't even go to doctors. I mean, their ok if you need to get put back together after an accident or something, but most of the time they, and their petrochemical nostrums, just seem to cause mote problems than they cure. |

| Comments: | | I had numerous surgeries with the insertion of c-tongs to drain abcess, they just kept bagging the flagyl into me not telling me that I could get peripheral neuropathy. Today 8 years later I take neurontin a very low dose, can't handle higher than 200mg per day for the peripheral neuropathy, My Neurologist has tried everything under the sun, but I guess only God can repair or give you new nerves damaged forever by the medicine. I also take percocet 5/325 4 times a day because it takes the edge off of the burning and feeling like I have a motor sitting on top off both feet. I also walk w/ a cain my left leg sometimes does not come forward and I have fallen breaking wrists, ribs and such. |

| Comments: | | Doctor prescribed this for me as I had a tooth abscess of a few weeks duration. I had previously been prescribed Ampicillin 500mg 3 times a day for it, this resulted in a lessening of the abscess for a few days and then its return as bad as ever. Started taking the Flagyl and it made me feel lousy. Nauseous, vomiting, feeling as if I had the flu. Discovered that the side effects lessened if I ate something substantial (especially dairy products) before taking it. I was determined to persevere to get rid of the abscess. This did not begin to subside until the fourth day of treatment, but it did go completely by the seventh day and has not returned. This was one month ago. It is an effective drug, but very unpleasant to take. |

| Benefits: | | the side effects put me in hospital and not able to work for weeks. the gum infection cleared up but this took second place to the concerns during hospitalisation. i did not bounce back to my usual good health after. |

| Comments: | | Had an ongoing yeast infection that would NOT go away. So the Dr is trying this med. It is terrible. The pharmacist said any use of perfume, mouthwash or anything with any type of alcohol makes the side effects much worse. I don't use any of those things so he said discontinue use and contact physician.
