Benefits:   my nausea went from debilitating to managable-after a few days i saw even better results- although the initial results weren't as strong-there was some relief almost immediately-within the first 12 hours.....i pretty much stopped throwing up-after throwing up 1-7x everyday for 8 weeks...i still threw up a few times every few weeks-but nothing like before..i was able to drink more water and therefore be more hydrated after i started taking it...i was able to eat much more of a variety of food as well.
Side effects:   headaches initially constipation-but after the first week i figured out things to do to counteract that. dry mouth
Comments:   it came in 4mg tablets that dissolved under my tounge. at first i took it every 6 hours and by the 4th or 5th hour i could feel it wearing off-i would wait until the 6th hour to take it again-sometimes i would be counting the minutes unti i could take the next one--over time (as my pregnancy went on) i needed to take it less and less- i would then take first thing in the a.m. and on a need be basis if at all for the rest of the day

Overall rating:
Effectiveness:   Highly Effective
Side effects:   Mild Side Effects

Treatment Info
Condition / reason:   nausea/vomiting
Dosage & duration:   8 mg taken twice a day for the period of three months
Other conditions:   undiagnoses gastrointestinal difficulties
Other drugs taken:   aciphex

Reported Results
Benefits:   Completely controlled nausea and vomiting.
Side effects:   Some sleepiness
Comments:   I was dealing with unrelenting nausea and vomiting for about five months. A combination of other drugs was tried, and they had a limited ability to control the nausea. I had lost a lot of weight, and was at the point where the weight loss had left me pale and weak. When Zofran was added to the list of drugs I was given, I had immediate relief and was able to stop taking several of the other drugs. I now take Zofran in the morning and evening and have stopped an unwanted weight loss and can enjoy eating again. I recently had a biopsy where I had to have nothing in my stomach for twelve hours. The prescribed pain killers after the procedure immediately brought back the vomiting, and my friend reminded the nurse that I usually used Zofran for that. Within ten minutes after giving me a dose the nausea was gone and I was able to get much needed rest.

Side effects:   Some side effects that are very tolerable include fatigue and slight head ache.
Comments:   You take one pill to dissolve on the tongue every 6 to 8 hours as needed for nausea and vomiting. This drug used to be used for chemotherapy patients, but now is more widely available for others. For gastroenteritis, it is very helpful for comfort and maintaining hydration.

Side effects:   when the mid-wife prescribed me zofran i was having problems with nausea. I couldnt eat, sleep,or drink anything. so she prescribed me zofran when i was 4months and the first week i took zofran i started bleeding and having brown discharge, so i immediately went to go see her and all she told me was that it was normal that my uterus was stretching. so the 2nd week i took it the same things happened worse. this time i was in so much pain that i couldn't walk or anything. so again i went back to see her and she told me that everything was normal it was just my uterus stretching. the 3rd week i had an appointment for an exam. that day i went i told her that i was having more bleeding, more brown discharge, and lots of pain. she did the swab test and again said everything is fine all these things that were happening to me was suppose to happen because my uterus was stretching. then she said " if anything happens go to the emergency room ". the next day at 5am i was calling 911 because i had a miscarriage. zofran caused me to have a miscarriage. that was my first baby. it hurts so much that i had a mid-wife that was so inconsiderate of what i was telling her and all the complications i was having. she disregarded everything and because of that i lost my first baby.
